Perth Hills – Bickley Wine Trail
Approximately 30 minutes from Perth tucked at the back of the hills is the Bickley wine trail. Visit small boutique wineries such as Myattsfield, Plume Estate, Fairbrossen and then stop for lunch at Core Cider House. https://www.perthhillswineregion.com.au/
Take the ferry from Barrack St or Fremantle, hire a bike and off you go to explore the bays of Rottnest Island! After a long ride enjoy the beach front Rotto pub and don’t forget to take a quokka
For the more adventurous a trip to Serpentine Falls for a bush walk and swim is great but if you want a relaxed long lunch in a stunning setting visit Millbrook winery. No one says you can’t do both though.
Wine, check. Cheese, check. Chocolate, check. You’re spoilt for choice in the Swan Valley. For family friendly activities try Supa Golf and a trip to the Chocolate Factory.
A 3-hour drive straight down Forrest Highway takes you to the jewel of WA, the Margaret River Region. With countless wineries, stunning beaches, walking trails, caves, mazes and family friendly breweries, there is a lot you can jam pack into a weekend “Down South”. Some must visit wineries include Cullen, Wills Domain, Moss Wood (appointments required for tastings), Voyager, Pierro and Vasse Felix. Gabriel’s chocolate is conveniently on Caves road too so after all the wine tastings why not do a chocolate tasting too! This is also the perfect time to head down to beaches like Injidup, Smiths Beach, Bunker Bay, Meelup and Yallingup beach. The natural spa at Injidup is worth the trip. Dinner options can be limited so stop into the Bunbury Farmers Market on the way down and pick up some fantastic local produce. They have delicious premade packs to make holiday cooking very easy.
Another spectacular spot along the south coast of WA, Albany is 4.5 hours from Perth and again has some of the most beautiful beaches you will ever visit. Take a short drive from Albany to Greens Pools or tackle the stairs down to the Sandpatch. Visit “the Gap” and stop by Plantagenet wines. For history buffs you can visit the National Anzac Centre and the Albany Whale Museum. You may even be able to spot some whales offshore in October.
As a major capital city, Perth is serviced by 18 international airlines and 12 domestic and regional airlines, making it very accessible. Perth International Airport is located a short 15 minute drive from Crown Perth.
