Paul McMahon, Legal Counsel, International Cricket Council (ICC)
Paul played cricket professionally in the UK, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand, captaining England Under 19s and playing at first-class level for his home county, Nottinghamshire. He combined his playing career with studying for a law degree at Oxford University and, after playing the last of his 21 first-class matches in 2008, started a training contract with international law firm Bird & Bird in London the following year. Having spent six years working in Bird & Bird’s top-ranked Media, Entertainment & Sport and Technology & Communications teams, Paul joined the ICC in Dubai as Legal Counsel in 2016. He works on a range of commercial and regulatory matters, ranging from sponsorship agreements and media rights deals to playing conditions and disciplinary processes. He has responsibility for the ICC’s strategy on intellectual property issues and has led the Rights Protection Programme at all ICC Events over the past four years.

Courtney McKay, Legal Counsel, ICC T20 World Cup 2020 Local Organising Committee
Courtney McKay is the Legal Counsel for the ICC T20 World Cup 2020’s local organising committee, having joined the LOC in January 2019. Prior to her work on the T20 World Cup, Courtney spent three years as Legal Manager at Victoria Racing Club, which is responsible for the famous Melbourne Cup Carnival every year. Courtney also had the opportunity to do work for the Melbourne Cricket Club as a secondee during her four years at Ashurst, having originally come from a Disputes background. Courtney is a massive fan of all sports, with cricket and AFL her main passions..
Moderator: Rebecca Hooper, ANZSLA Director; and Legal Counsel, ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2021
Rebecca is the Legal Counsel for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup's local organising committee. Rebecca's experience includes working as a specialist sports lawyer in New Zealand's boutique law firm Maria Clarke Lawyers and as a consultant for the Global Sports Marketing Team at adidas International. Rebecca is the former Legal Counsel of the International Paralympic Committee where she provided anti-doping, classification, regulatory and general in-house advice. A member of ANZSLA since 2009 and Director since 2019, Rebecca holds a BPhEd and LLB from the University of Otago (New Zealand) and is a graduate (with distinction) from the 15th edition of the FIFA Master (Neuchatel, Switzerland). She is also a former New Zealand age group representative in hockey, touch rugby and volleyball.
