National Sports Tribunal Webinar

ANZSLA is delighted to announce and Professor Jack Anderson, Director of Studies, Sports Law, The University of Melbourne, will now introduce and facilitate the session.
National Sports Tribunal CEO, John Boultbee AM, will give a presentation summarising the experiences of the first twelve months of operation, followed by discussion with guest panel members, Judith Levine (NST Member) and Cam Vale (CEO, Baseball Australia).
There is no charge for attendance at this event but registration is essential via the ANZSLA website. There is an opportunity to submit questions in advance at the time of registration. Questions will then be addressed at the conclusion of the presentation.
Legal practitioners may be able to claim CPD points for attendance at this webinar.
John Boultbee AM, Chief Executive Officer, National Sports Tribunal
Sport administrator and lawyer John Boultbee AM is the NST's inaugural CEO. John is very experienced in the Australian and international sporting community. He has been particularly involved in rowing, football and volleyball. He was involved in Australia’s most successful Olympics – Sydney 2000 – as the then-director of the Australian Institute of Sport.
The CEO actively manages NST administration and staff to provide resolution services. The CEO has a range of powers as outlined in the establishing legislation, including:
allocating Members to hear a matter; arrangements for determining and sharing the NST's costs related to the matter.
Judith Levine, Independent Arbitrator, & National Sports Tribunal Member
Judith Levine is an independent arbitrator with over 20 years of dispute resolution experience in public international law, investment treaty, commercial and sports cases. She brings valuable insight from her work in both private practice and at public institutions.
Judith has served as presiding arbitrator, sole arbitrator, and co-panellist in disputes at the International Chamber of Commerce, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. She is also a Vice President of the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, a member of the Commonwealth Secretariat Arbitral Tribunal, and an inaugural member of Australia’s National Sports Tribunal.
Cam Vale, Chief Executive Officer, Baseball Australia
From April 2017 Cam Vale commenced as CEO Baseball Australia, having previously served as CEO at Hockey Australia for three and a half years, and before that 5 years as COO at North Melbourne Football Club (including nine months as Interim CEO) and four years as CFO Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club.
Vale is charged at Baseball Australia to lead a number of significant change management projects and agenda, including the ABL new strategic direction into Asia, to improve the profile and success of the national team, to build on key stakeholder relationships across the ASC, MLB, Softball Australia and the Asian Leagues of the NPB, KBO and CPBL. A renewed focus on commercial and participation growth is also a key focus.
