Background
World Sailing is the world governing body for the sport of sailing, officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As an International Federation, World Sailing is responsible for promoting the sport, managing sailing at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and the regulation and development of the sport worldwide.
The principle members of World Sailing are the 147 Member National Authorities (MNAs) and more than 100 Class Associations within the sport.
Our mission is to make sailing more exciting and accessible for everyone to participate or watch and use our reach and influence to create a sustainable future for our sport and the waters of the world.
World Sailing is holding Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections in November 2024 in Singapore. World Sailing, under its reformed governance structure, aims to ensure robust and transparent election processes not just for the election itself but also throughout the campaign period leading up to the elections.
World Sailing has appointed an independent Election Panel to oversee these elections. The Election Panel has approved and published the Election Rules which govern the conduct of the elections and the candidates.
Role
The aim of these appointments is to ensure that any alleged breaches of the Election Rules are processed in accordance with the Election Rules, the World Sailing Regulations and the Judicial Procedures for Elections.
