ANZSLA f2f Event (18 March 2026): No Extra Time - Climate change versus sport is going down to the wire
ANZSLA invites members and guests to attend a presentation by distinguished guest speakers Ben Ihle KC (Barrister) and Rohan Nanthakumar (Barrister). The session will be introduced by Martin Ross, ANZSLA President & Partner, Hall & Wilcox.
Extreme weather increasingly affects sporting events. As a result, sporting organisation face disruption and commensurate exposure to liability, athletes face mounting health and safety risks, and stakeholder pressure and expectations intensify. The industry of sport cannot afford to ignore - or to act slowly in response to - climate change and its impacts.
In this presentation, Ben and Rohan will explore key legal risks arising at the intersection of climate change and sport, drawing on recent examples from Australia and overseas. The presentation concludes by reflecting on whether sport is on the cusp of its own wave of climate-related litigation.
Legal practitioners may claim 1 CPD point for attendance. The presentation will be followed by refreshments and a networking opportunity.
There is no charge for ANZSLA members to attend this event, non-members incur a $80 fee.
This event is generously supported by Hall & Wilcox.
