PART-TIME / SESSIONAL POSITIONS, AUSTRALIA WIDE
The soon to be established National Sports Tribunal (NST) provides sports, athletes and athlete support personnel with timely, transparent, cost effective and consistent dispute resolution of sport-related disputes – including anti-doping disputes - through private arbitration, mediation, conciliation or case appraisal.
Applications are sought from experienced legal professionals and sports subject matter experts to form the Panel of Tribunal Members for the NST. Tribunal Members of the NST will play a central role in ensuring the effective provision of dispute resolution services for sports participants, support personnel and sporting organisations across Australia, forming a diverse panel of independent arbitrators, mediators, medical experts, sports administrators, athletes, coaches, officials and subject matter experts in an appropriate field of expertise.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident at the time the appointment is made, and possess experience or knowledge in at least one (1) of the following areas:
- sports law (e.g. anti-doping, athlete eligibility, athlete selection, sports disciplinary proceedings)
- arbitration or dispute resolution
- sports governance or sports administration, ideally at an elite level
- sports coaching, officiating or participation, ideally at an elite level
- scientific or medical expertise in relation to sport
- ethics
- investigative practices or techniques
- any other appropriate field of expertise, of demonstrable relevancy to the NST, including but not limited to bullying, harassment and/or discrimination law; corporate governance; safeguarding of children and/or adults at risk.
