Webinar:  Transgender rules

ANZSLA invites you to attend a webinar providing an insight into how transgender rules are drafted for elite and community sport, with guest speakers Yvonne Nolan (Deputy General Counsel, World Rugby) and Kerry Tavrou (Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Tennis Australia).   The session will be introduced by Rebecca Hooper (ANZSLA Director; and Legal Counsel, New Zealand Rugby).

 

Yvonne will discuss the process adopted by World Rugby to draft its transgender regulations (as they relate to professional rugby) and Kerry will talk about the process adopted by  Transgender and Gender Diverse Governance in Sport launch driven by Pride in Sport where Tennis Australia launched a new resource related to the inclusion of employees, players, coaches, volunteers and spectators with diverse sexualities and genders (related to community sport).  

 

This free webinar is open to ANZSLA members only.

Yvonne Nolan, Deputy General Counsel, World Rugby 

 

Yvonne Nolan is the Deputy General Counsel for World Rugby, the global governing body of rugby union. World Rugby’s main function is to regulate, inspire and increase participation in rugby across the world.  Prior to joining World Rugby, Yvonne specialised in cross-border commercial litigation and she also had a background in rugby, having played international rugby for Ireland.  Yvonne’s role as Deputy General Counsel includes commercial work (broadcast, sponsorship and licensing) with a strong focus on regulatory matters including governance, discipline, gambling, anti-doping, player eligibility, welfare and participation matters.

Kerry Tavrou, Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Tennis Australia

 

Kerry Tavrou is the Head of Diversity & Inclusion at Tennis Australia and is working to make the sport embrace diversity and be welcoming, safe and inclusive for everyone. Kerry has had over 10 years’ experience in supporting sporting organisations to be inclusive and has a focus on supporting LGBTQ+ communities, people with disability, First Nations people and culturally diverse communities. One of the key initiatives to promote the inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ people is the inclusion of the Glam Slam (an LGBTQ+ tournament) into the Australian Open. Over the past 12months Kerry has been involved in Pride in Sport’s advisory committee and worked internally to develop Transgender Inclusion Guidelines for Tennis participation. .
