Legal Officer - NSW Office of Sport

 

 

* We are currently seeking to fill a Legal Officer role

* This is an ongoing full-time opportunity based at Sydney Olympic Park

* Legal Officer Grade 3 (Salary package $104,918 up to $112,212 per annum)

The Office of Sport works with key sector partners to promote and deliver a vibrant and valued sport and active recreation sector that enhances the lives of the people of NSW.
 
The Office is responsible for planning, managing and delivering high quality venues, facilities, sport and active recreation development programs, high-performance sport, sports integrity and safety. It is also the driver for NSW sport policy and strategy, the formation and dissemination of insights and information, and the promotion of partnerships.
 
About the role
 
Provide legal advice and support, drafting and advising on contracts, legal instruments, legislation, court process, briefing notes and orders, conduct of litigation, representation of the Office of Sport before courts and tribunals, committees, advisory bodies and working parties.
 
In this role you will be required to:
 
* Undertaking legal work including the provision of legal advice to Office of Sport personnel on all aspects of the Office of Sport’s operations in any or all of the following areas of law – commercial, administrative, child protection, property, regulation, criminal, civil, discrimination and general litigation
* Draft and review documents including instruments, agreements, briefing notes, orders, drafting instructions, legislation, court process and instructions to external legal advisors
* Represent the Office of Sport before courts, tribunals, commissions of inquiry, investigative bodies, committees, advisory bodies and working parties
* Provide legal assistance to the Office of Sport generally as requested by the Manager Legal Services to enable legal resources to be focused on areas of high demand and priority and to broaden the skills and experience of other legal officers
 
Essential Requirements
 
Formal qualifications include admission or eligbility to be admitted as a legal practitioner in NSW.
