We are delighted to welcome delegates from Australia, New Zealand and further afield to join us in Perth, Western Australia for the 2019 ANZSLA Conference! The conference programme offers delegates two days of engaging discussion exploring current issues in sports law, as well as fantastic social and sporting events where delegates can form and solidify relationships with colleagues.
The theme for the conference this year is "Breaking Boundaries", and speakers have been asked to use this theme to challenge, inform and entertain. The conference programme will be kicked off by a keynote address by Lord Sebastian Coe centred on breaking boundaries during his time with the IAAF, and a range of presentations and panel discussions will follow about some of the most topical issues in sports law, including privacy and data protection, ethical decision making and athlete wellbeing. The conference will close with a tour of Optus Stadium hosted by members of the project team, who will offer insights regarding legal and operational considerations for the State and stakeholders in bringing the new Perth stadium to life.
Conference events will be spread across Crown Resort and the world-class Optus Stadium, as well as the riverbank beside the Swan River in between the two main venues - you're encouraged to bring your sneakers for the ANZSLA Sports Cup fun run/walk! While in WA, you may also like to take advantage of all that WA has to offer – wine and cheese, sun and surf, or extraordinary experiences, this State is for you.
We thank all members of the Conference Organising Committee who have worked so hard over the past year to develop the programme and organise the conference and social activities, and we thank all the sponsors for their generous contribution to the conference. We would particularly like to acknowledge the generous support of the WA State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. Thanks also to Martin Ross and the ANZSLA Board for its support.
We look forward to welcoming you to WA for the 29th annual ANZSLA conference – we are excited to host you in Perth.
