Legal Counsel - In House - New Zealand Rugby

New Zealand Rugby, one of New Zealand’s largest sporting organisations, is looking for an experienced commercial lawyer with particular expertise in technology, data, privacy and general commercial law to join our legal team.  This role will predominantly assist the rugby, operations and technology teams and will also support the commercial team.

You’ll primarily be responsible for all legal matters relating to the preparation for, and operation and hosting of Rugby World Cup 2021(now being played in 2022). 

Our successful applicant will also need to bring excellent attention to detail, experience in drafting and negotiating contracts particularly in the technology and data fields but also in general commercial contract drafting. A knowledge of IP, licensing and especially privacy law will be important. You will need initiative, sound judgement and an ability to work flexibly in a busy team environment. A love of sport would be an advantage. You will also assist the General Counsel with general commercial work as capacity allows.
